DRUG INNOVATION
The research activities will be carried out in Novara at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Università del Piemonte Orientale
The Duration of the program is 3 years. During this period, beyond the research activity, the formation of the candidate is based on teaching courses held by UPO Professors of external experts.
Educational objectives
The Ph.D. in "Drug innovation" has the main goal to set up a high formation school which gathers all the themes of drug discovery. The scientific discipline involved guarantee the indispensable skills for the identification of the molecular mechanisms and innovative biological targets. Design and synthesis of biologically active molecules will also be pursued, as well as the biological screening, and pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies. Included are also studies of pharmacogenomic, toxicology, pharmaceutical chemistry and studies of drug regulatory affairs. Included in this Ph.D. course are studies on nutraceutics, cosmetics and diagnostics.
Job opportunities
The goal of this Ph.D. course is to create highly qualified professional figures, which are especially sought from drug industries, but they can be useful and interesting also for other area of research (e.g. organic synthesis, nutraceutic, cosmetic, food industry) and of course for the academic positions. This is possible thanks to the specific expertise of tutors and to the several industrial collaborations. Furthermore, the promotion of innovation and technology transfer is also a main goal of this Ph.D. course. Patents and creation of spin-off will be encouraged.
