Running an animal facility can be challenging. Running an animal facility while refurbishing or moving into a new site can be extra challenging! finances, operational hiccups, staffing issues etc. all add to the worries while you work out how to keep important research going.

Charles River has helped many universities with this daunting task. This special presentation draws from our experience as we discuss topics including:

• common risks and pitfalls
• maintaining health status and improving protocols
• background strains and genetic integrity
• when to rederive or cryopreserve
• breeding animals ‘in-house’ vs sourcing them commercially
