Graduated in Medicine and Ph Doctor in Neurobiology, he currently holds the position of Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Università del Piemonte Orientale. He founded the Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology laboratory after a two-year postdoctoral study at the Kimmel Cancer Center in Philadelphia (USA), working on characterising altered apoptotic mechanisms in models of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. His experience in the most up-to-date techniques of molecular and cell biology, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy is documented by more than 50 publications (H-index: 24) in international peer-reviewed journals focusing on different aspects of cell biology: i) lipid-dependent and "Death Receptors" apoptotic signalling, ii) anti-apoptotic mechanisms in leukemia, iii) protein acetylation and cell death, iv) autophagy, v) pharmacological targeting of HIV integration and re-activation.
