Attività di ricerca

Letizia Fracchia is an Associate Professor of Microbiology at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UPO).Since the beginning of her academic career, she has actively collaborated with Italian and international companies, focusing on research topics such as the selection and characterization of microorganisms producing antimicrobial compounds and the use of rhamnolipids and lipopeptides to reduce biofilm formation on voice prostheses. She is also the inventor of two patents related to antimicrobial and anti-biofilm compounds. Her main research interests include biosurfactant-based coatings to inhibit microbial adhesion and the formation of mono- and multi-species biofilms on medical materials such as silicone and titanium, microbial fermentations from renewable substrates to produce bioactive molecules applicable in the biomedical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic sectors, and the study of the antimicrobial and anti-biofilm activity of natural and synthetic compounds against drug-resistant bacteria and fungi.
