Attività di ricerca

Prof. Pirali's research focuses on innovative approaches to drug discovery and development. Specifically, it explores the application of the soft drug concept in topical delivery, the use of deuterium to improve the pharmacokinetic profile of bioactive molecules, the PROTAC technology for protein degradation modulation, and multicomponent reactions. These strategies are applied to projects in different therapeutic areas: cancer immunotherapy, through IDO1 enzyme inhibitors; rare diseases, with SOCE modulators for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, in collaboration with the ChemICare spin-off; and neuropathic pain, with voltage-gated sodium channel blockers. The research aims to develop novel therapeutic solutions for complex diseases that still represent an unmet medical need.
