Research Activity
1. Study of the expression and role of bitter taste receptors (TAS2R) in extra-oral sites such as the respiratory system, musculoskeletal system, and gastrointestinal tract.
2. Generation of in vitro cellular models starting from urine-derived stem cells (USCs). In particular, a differentiation protocol has been developed to obtain skeletal muscle cells from both wild-type USCs and those engineered via CRISPR/Cas9, in order to model genetic muscle disorders. Work is ongoing to establish neuronal differentiation.
